Unknown to the them, Danny's mother made a pact with the Devil to save her life in exchange for bearing his son. The Monastery is attacked by the Devil's forces, and the monk helps Nayda and Danny escape. Seeing only one option to save the child's life, Moreau seeks the help of the Rider. When he finally finds the Rider, he seems very uncaring about the welfare of the young boy. The monk then offers the Rider a chance to redeem his condemned soul. This opportunity to be free from his curse is all the motivation he needs to fight for the young boy.

As the movie reaches its climax, the truth about the Rider's identity is revealed. Johnny Blaze finds out that the Ghost Rider is actually the Spirit of Justice (not Vengeance) and has been corrupted by Roarke. In the final battle, Roarke is banished back to Hell, while the Rider seeks to save the young boy's soul from going to Hell as well. He is able to raise the young man from the dead.
